Background
Welcome to the Iron Pyro™ (“Event”) Website! Designed to promote and encourage creativity and artistry in the field of Fireworks Design and Fireworks Choreography, the concept of Iron Pyro was formed about a year ago by a small group of dedicated firework enthusiasts, show designers, and manufacturers. Loosely basing their ideas and format on the popular television cooking show called Iron Chef, the group decided that great things might happen if the product, the people, the music, and the location for fireworks were set up in a friendly but fiercely competitive situation. Paramount to this idea was the concept that the Contestants would have a common starting point in terms of product selection and allowable set up time, and that all would be competing on the same night before a live public audience.
The Event
On Tuesday night, August 11th 2009 in Mason City, Iowa, USA, during the Pyrotechnics Guild International Convention (“Host”), three specially selected Contestants will take the stage after several months of hard work putting together what they believe will be an outstanding display of live fireworks set to music and battle it out to become the first ever IRON PYRO!
In order to fairly judge the merits and skills of the Contestants, each will start with the same firework “ingredients” selected and provided by the Event’s main Sponsor, SHOGUN PYROTECHNICS. Shells, Mines, Comets, Rockets, and Roman Candles will then be blended with music, chosen and laid out by each Contestant in order to create a six to ten minute Firework Extravaganza.
